Abstract

Field experiment was conducted to identify rice cultivars with high compensating ability for rodent damage. Despite rodent incidence, there was no total yield loss as the rice crop produced ratoon tillers from the ratcut tillers through its innate compensating ability that varied greatly between rice varieties. Yield-attributing parameters were compared between rat-damaged and healthy crops. Among the tested varieties, MTU-1190 exhibited the highest compensatory ability for productive tillers and yield, MTU-1210 showed the shortest maturity period, PLA-1100 had the highest test weight, and MTU-1290 produced the most straw yield.
