This study investigates the complex link between insecticide resistance and the spread of vector-borne diseases in agricultural regions, exploring the underlying mechanisms, implications for disease transmission dynamics, and strategies for mitigation and control. Mechanisms of resistance, including target site insensitivity, metabolic detoxification, and behavioral adaptations, alter vector populations’ abundance, competence, and behavior, influencing disease transmission rates and patterns. Field surveys, laboratory experiments, and epidemiological studies provide empirical evidence to understand resistance dynamics and inform evidence based control strategies. Risk assessment identifies economic, public health, and environmental consequences of resistance, highlighting the urgent need for policy interventions. Policy recommendations emphasize integrated pest management, regulation and oversight, capacity-building, research funding, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy for sustainable agriculture.
