Abstract

Central Sericultural Research & Training Institute (CSR&TI), Berhampore, West Bengal has developed a new eco-friendly disinfectant, NIRMOOL™, which is highly effective against silkworm pathogens as well as overcomes the cons of 5% bleaching powder. In the present study, the efficacy of NIRMOOL™ was evaluated with eight Adopted Seed Rearers (ASRs) of Gazole seed zone, Malda, West Bengal during P1 Agrahayani and P1 Falguni, in 2020, 2021 and 2022 crops. The results indicated that disinfection with NIRMOOL™ resulted in reduced disease incidence and improved crop yields without affecting the economic traits. ASRs involved in the study were highly satisfied with the usage of NIRMOOL™. NIRMOOL™ is a promising disinfectant in near future for the sericulture industry.
