Abstract

Maize (Zea mays L.) faces substantial yield losses due to insect pests, particularly the CLA (Rhopalosiphum maidis). Different insecticides were tested for the bio-efficacy against corn leaf aphid. Flonicamid 50 WG @ 150 g a.i./ha recorded lowest mean per cent aphid index both at before (2.42) and after (2.72) tassel emergence. Same treatment gave higher kernel and fodder yield before (89.94 and 80.48) and after (119.07 and 115.86) tassel emergence, respectively. Imidacloprid 17.8 SL has shown highest benefit cost ratio of 3.02 and 2.63 before and after tassel emergence.
