Abstract

This study provided a summary of the diversity and abundance of Anopheles, Culex and Aedes mosquitoes across the various Indian states and union territories. Indian mosquito diversity contributes to more than 12% of world mosquito fauna with 3541 species, 112 genera and 2 sub-families (Anopheline and Culicine). This review’s aims to pinpoint the mosquito species that spread different vector-borne illnesses that kill two million people globally and cost 40 million US dollars Indian revenue loss. Effective disease management measures depend on an understanding of their variety and spread.
