Comprehensive GC-MS profiling of bioactive compounds in medicinal plant extracts: Implications for pharmaceutical and insecticidal applications – A mini review

Department of Zoology, School of Bioengineering and Biosciences, Lovely Professional University, Phagwara - 144 411, Punjab, India

Abstract

The findings show that a wide range of substances, such as phenolics, alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenes, possess various pharmacological and insecticidal properties. These results have significant implications and provide valuable information for developing environmentally friendly insecticides and pharmaceuticals derived from natural products. The study contributes to advancing sustainable development and public health by bridging the gap between normative knowledge and modern science. It also opens new avenues for innovative applications in agriculture and medicine. Ultimately, thorough gas chromatography-mass spectrometry profiling of extracts from medicinal plants offers an effective approach to investigating natural substances with potential therapeutic and insecticidal properties.
