Abstract

The comparative biology was studied for maize fall armywarm where maize was treated separately with three nano particles namely Nano zinc oxide, Nano hematin and Nano curcumin. The crop was sown in field and treated with nano particles and the biology studies were conducted in laboratory. The data of larval periods per instar, larval length per instar, head capsule width per instar, larval weight per instar, pupal weight, feeding index, approximate digestibility per cent, pupal periods, growth index, survival index and wing span have been recorded. The data revealed the effectiveness of nano hematin in altering all the parameters of biology of fall armyworm. The larval duration (4.46 mm), larval length (33.03 mm), head capsule width (2.53 mm) larval weight (179.34 mg), pupal weight (180.67 mg), feeding index (0.28), approximate digestibility (0.41), growth index (0.77), survival index (1.31) and wing span (3.31 mm) were found to be minimum in nano hematin treatment in compare to others.
