Recently, grapes were found infected with the peach fly, which is a stone pest that affects Egyptian agricultural exports. The study targeted climate change over 25 years in Egypt during the grape harvest months, which extend from May to the end of August. It was found that the spread of peach fly infestation was linked to rising temperatures, as the average maximum temperature rose with the least significant difference (LSD) of about 3.34 degrees Celsius. It also showed that the insect spread was related to the maximum temperature by 96%, while the minimum temperature was about 76%, and the relative humidity was 42%, respectively. It was found that peach fly (Bactrocera zonata) infestation in grape crops peaked in July and August 2024.
