Abstract

The Sphingid moths (family Sphingidae) are commonly known as hawk-moths. They are economically important insects as being beneficial pollinators and environmental indicators. An attempt has been made to document the diversity of hawkmoths inhabiting different localities of Himachal Pradesh. The collection through light-trapping technique resulted to document 56 species of Hawkmoths belonging to 26 genera. For exploration of hawk-moth diversity, 33 localities falling in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh were thoroughly surveyed over the period of three years from May, 2023 to April, 2025.
