Over 400 plant species serve as host plants for lac insects, with significant commercial cultivation on species such as Schleichera oleosa (Kusum), Butea monosperma (Palas), Ziziphus mauritiana (Ber) and Flemingia semialata. During a field survey conducted from 2018 to 2021 in Andhra Pradesh, the presence of lac encrustation was observed on the stems and branches of Ficus amplissima Smith in Vadlamudi village, Chebrolu Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India.
