Abstract

Disability is a state of mind which is aggravated by a bad attitude shown towards children with disability. They have the same rights to live their life with freedom and dignity in a harmonised society and therefore they must be free from all kinds of abuses if there are any. However, the steps taken against abuses are in its infancy. The present study analyses the maltreatment of children with disability, living in the Cuddalore City, India. It reveals different attitudes of the families towards challenged children, types of disability and different abuses being faced by children of disability in and outside their home. Finally, the study throws some light on policy role for free and favourable environment for children with disability.
