Economic Empowerment of Women in 11th Five-year Plan

Abstract

India is the second highest populated country of the world, it has nearly 1.23 billion of population, in which 48.5% are females and the rest are males. In Indian society, the major disguised contributor women, are neglected. Although government has worked towards the economic empowerment of women but the results are not very impactful. This paper is an analysis of the factors of economic empowerment of women at pre and post 11th five-year plan of the Planning Commission. This paper discusses labour force participation ratio, employment and wages, land rights, skill development, financial inclusion and government's plan for the economic empowerment of women. In this paper government's initiative towards the economic empowerment of women in unorganised sector, their financial inclusion, their land rights and their skill development has been discussed.
