Compared with other commonly consumed legumes, beans have been somewhat overlooked and are good for the heart campaign of the 1990’s, which has subsided a bit in the new millennium, yet their newer nourishing and health promoting facets have not stopped coming to the lime-light. They are good and relatively inexpensive sources of protein for vegetarian diets in developing countries and also are a good source of energy, carbohydrates, B-complex vitamins and minerals. It could be a valuable source with high acceptability ratings to strengthen the nourish ability of traditional cereal-legume combine meal pattern of Indian dietaries. Beans are an often overlooked source of incredible health and medicinal benefits. The benefits include improved digestion, prevention from cancer, renal and heart diseases etc. It will have a positive effect with a fond hope of meaningful efforts and purposeful consequences. This is an endeavor in this direction taking some of the important yet often neglected beans into reckoning with firm conviction and to solve the nutritional problems of the masses and treat people using this therapeutic legume based on life span development and health promotion approaches.
