Abstract

Inheritance of peduncle length was studied in lentil based on the analysis of two crosses which involved parents with long peduncle (MC 6, LH 94–57) and short peduncle length (Sehore 74-3, LG 3685). The F1 plants in both the crosses had long peduncle, which indicates complete dominance of the trait. Segregation of F1 plants in both the crosses was in good agreement with the ratio of plant 3 long: 1 with short peduncle length. The gene symbol Pdl is proposed for this trait.
