Abstract

Pigeonpea cyst nematode, Heterodera cajani is prevalent in the areas of central Uttar Pradesh where long duration pigeonpea crop is grown as sole crop. The nematode population varies from 130 to 500 eggs and larvae/200 cc soil. Experiments in the field were conducted for management of H. cajani. In one experiment of management, summer ploughing of field and seed dressing with carbosulfan @ 3% a.i. w/w was much effective and increased the yield up to 24.92% and final nematode population was reduced up to 32.17% in comparison to control. In another experiment of management with Trichoderma viride and organic amendments used as soil application, combined use of neem cake @ 10 q/ha and T. viride @ 2.5 kg/ha had effectively reduced H. cajani population up to 31.8% and yield was increased 11.1% in comparison to untreated control.
