Abstract

Field experiments were conducted during rabi seasons of 200405, 2005–06 and 2006–07 in sandy loam soil to study the performance of Frenchbean (rajmash) at different dates of sowing and plant densities. The results revealed that significantly higher number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, 100-seed weight (g) and seed yield (kg ha−1) were recorded when Frenchbean is sown during the second fortnight of October to first week of November. Further, sowing Frenchbean at 30 x 10 cm spacing was found to produce optimum plant density for recording significantly higher seed yields over wider spacings in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh.
