The effect of high temperature treatment on seeds of pea and soybean was investigated by taking germination percentage, seed vigour index as well as leachate analysis. High temperature treatment reduced the rate of germination percentage and seed vigour index but seeds could withstand high temperature up to 70°C treatment for 10 days continuously by maintaining viability up to 10% in pea and 17% in soybean. The analysis of leachate such as electrical conductivity, mineral ion and soluble sugar showed a correlation with thermo-tolerance of seeds.
