Abstract

Ravages of lepidopteran pod borers during flowering and pod formation stage and podfly during pod formation stage is the major bottleneck in attainment of desired productivity levels of pigeonpea. Present study was framed to device cost effective and farmer friendly module for the management of pod borer complex in pigeonpea. Evaluation of twelve modules along with a control revealed superiority of the module comprised of spraying of azadirachtin 10000 ppm @ 10 ml/10 L of water at 50 per cent flowering stage of crop followed by second spraying of emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 3 g/10 L of water at 15 day after first spraying and third spraying of deltamethrin 1 EC + triazophos 35 EC ready mix formulation @ 25 ml/10 L of water at 15 days, after second spraying, which registered highest larval reduction of lepidopteran pod borers, lowest pod and seeddamage due to pod borer complex with highest monthly return of 20537/ha) and incremental cost benefit ratio of 1:5.2.
