Abstract

Genetic association and path coefficient analysis in 40 genotypes of green gram for different quantitative characters were studied during Kharif 2010. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant difference for all characters under study indicating the presence of sufficient amount of variability. The highest GCV and PCV were observed for seed yield per plant, number of pod per plant number of secondary branches per plant, number of cluster per plant and pod length respectively. High estimates of genetic advance were observed for plant height (cm) and number of pod per plant. The seed yield per plant was significantly and positively correlated with number of primary and secondary branches per plant, number of cluster per plant, number of pod per plant and number of seed per pod. Path analysis revealed that number of pod per plant had maximum direct effect on seed yield followed by number of cluster per plant and number of secondary branches per plant.
