Evaluation of productivity and profitability of Urdbean (Cv. KU 96-3) under frontline demonstration in Humid South Eastern Plain of Rajasthan

Abstract

The 27 front line demonstrations were conducted in humid south eastern plain of Rajasthan to evaluate the production potential of newly released urdbean variety KU 96-3 during the years of 2008, 2010 and 2011 at the farmers’ field. Improved variety KU 96-3 produced 18.9 per cent higher mean seed yield over local checks. The maximum technology gap (604 kg/ha) and index (50.33%) was observed in the year 2008 in comparison to the years of 2010 and 2011. Majority of the respondent farmers’ expressed their high (52.59%) to the medium (31.58%) level of satisfaction for the improved variety under real farm situations.
