Uttar Pradesh is one of leading state in relation to area (24.0 lakh ha) and production (21.0 lakh tonnes) of pulses crops. There is wide gap between technology generation, technology dissemination and technology utilization (Farmers) system. Centrally sponsored several specific programmes viz; Technology Mission on Pulses (TMP), National Pulse Development Programme (NPDP), Intensive Scheme of Oilseed Pulses Palmoils and Maize (ISOPOM) were implemented in the states to achieve desire level of production of pulses. National Food Security Mission, Accelerated Pulses Production Programme are also being implemented during XI plan period to meet target production. Extension workers are main players in technology dissemination process as well as large scale application of technology packages of pulses among farming community. Keeping in view the above facts a study was conducted in the Lakhimpur Kheri, Baheraich, Jalaun, Faizabad, Allahabad, Banda and Aligarh districts of Uttar Pradesh among the 70 extension workers to ascertain the methodology used for dissemination of technologies by extension worker, mode of dissemination, opinion of the extension workers about the pulse production and constraints perceived in transfer of pulse production technologies. About 80% extension workers of Aligarh district contacted through farm & home visit to the farmers. 90% and 70% extension workers from Aligarh and Banda districts were conducting meeting for dissemination of knowledge about Pulse Production Technologies. Majority of extension worker were disseminating technologies through progressive farmer all the district. All the extension workers were in the opinion of growing of pulse due to suitability and profitability of pulse crop. Unsatisfactory pay, poor promotion policy, blue bull and lack of field staff were the main constraint in dissemination of technologies in all the districts.
