Abstract

Efficacy of some synthetic and bio-pesticides against pod borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) damaging chickpea was studied at the Agricultural Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, during rabi cropping season of the year 2008 and 2009. Synthetic and biopesticides reduced pod borer damage significantly. The per cent pod damage, seed damage and grain yield varied from 0.93% to 9.00%, 2.44% to 8.00% and 1.73 to 2.92 kg/plot respectively. Significantly lowest pod damage, seed damage and higher seed yield was observed in plot treated with fenvalerate 20% EC followed by endosulphon 35% EC, and NSKE 5% during both the year.
