Abstract

Studies were conducted at agricultural research farm, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi to know the efficacy of nine new insecticides against pod borers in mung bean. The lowest pod damage per cent was found in spinosad (2.33%) followed by indoxacarb (2.67%), Bt (3.33%), thiodicarb and profenophos (3.67%). The highest pod damage was recorded in acetamiprid (6.33%) followed by lamda-cyhalothrin (5.67%) and azadirachtin (5.0%). The maximum seed damage was recorded in acetamiprid (3.0%) while lowest in spinosad (1.33%). The maximum yield was recorded in indoxacarb (12.04 q/ha) while lowest yield was recorded in azadirachtin (9.44 q/ha). The highest cost: benefit ratio was obtained in acetamiprid (1: 7.91) followed by lamda cyhalothrin (1: 7.56). The lowest cost: benefit ratio was obtained in spinosad (1: 2.12) followed by Bt(1: 3.81) and indoxacarb (1: 4.57).
