Abstract

Frontline demonstrations (FLDs) are one of the most powerful tools for transfer of technology. Keeping in view an effective extension approach of frontline demonstrations for dissemination of greengram variety IPM 02–03, an impact evaluation of 75 Frontline demonstrations in 40.5 hectare area was conducted by KVK (ICAR-DRMR), Gunta-Bansur, Alwar in the kharif season in the year 2015, 2017 and 2018. The results were compared between improved technology & farmer practice. The Frontline demonstrations on greengram variety IPM 02–03 was registered on an average of three years 22.10 percent higher yield over farmers practices. Average extension gap was recorded 1.25 qt/ha and average technology gap was recorded 5.01 qt/ha. The average technology index was recorded 41.78 percent. The economics were compared between improved technology & farmers practices. The improved technology on greengram variety IPM 02–03 registered on an average of three years higher gross return (Rs. 46146), net returns (Rs.26650) and benefit- cost ratio (2.36) as compared to farmer's practices gross return (Rs. 37820), net returns (Rs.20460) and benefit-cost ratio (2.20). By conducting front line demonstration of proven technologies, yield potential of Greengram variety IPM 02–03 could be enhanced to a great extent with increase in the income level of the farming community.
