Abstract

Four cases of perineal injury due to motorcycle accidents are reported. Trauma to motorcycle riders are generally more complex and severe than injuries from other type of vehicular accidents. The rider on a motorcycle is propelled forward violently upon impact causing his perineum to hit the fuel tank which is located in front of the seat. This violent contact leads to laceration of tbe scortum and hematoma which is sometimes associated with fractures of the pubic bones of the pelvis. The examination of perineal injuries are important in forensic evaluation of the case.
