The present study was undertaken to evaluate the pattern of poisoning deaths in Rohtak (Haryana) over the period of 3 years from 1997–1999. Out of 4473 medicolegal autopsies performed in the mortuary of this institute, 1191 (26.6%) deaths were due to poisoning. All these deaths were invariably suicidal in manner. The impact of age, sex, marital status, occupation and social status was studie.
