Abstract

A computer graphic superimposition technique has been developed and employed to compare antimortem photograph of face with that of recovered skull. A software named here as computer Aided Superimposition Software (CASS-01) has been developed for this purpose. In this Video digitation technique, photographs of face and skull image have been superimposed on computer graphics by interactive processing. The distances between anatomical points on face and skull were measured and the ratios between selected distances were obtained on computer monitor. The ratios of selected distances between anatomical points in skull have a good agreement with that of face photograph. This fact strengthens the possibility of the skull belonging to the victim's face photograph. The computer graphic superimposition technique as developed here is successfully tested in several case studies.
