Abstract

52, male workers exposed to the flour dust were evaluated for pulmonary function, respiratory symptoms and smoking habits. The study showed a significat reduction in FVC, FEVI, PEFR, FEF 25–75 and MVV workers than age and sex matched control subjects. Smoker flour mill workers showed further significant deteriornation of lung function parameters when compared to the control smoker. From this study it can be concluded that exposure to four dust leads to combined type of spirometric deficit revealing obstructive desease and smokers workingin such environment are prone to develop further reduction in pulmonary function parameters.
