Fatal gastro-intestial bleeding, a complication of septicemic burn – A case report

Abstract

A 9 year old boy of average build sustained about 25–30% flame burn injury at his home. He was treated in a local hospital and was discharged against the advice of treating doctor after seven days of incident. He developed pain abdomen and breathlessness a few days later at his home, and died on the way to hospital. On autopsy massive gastro-intestinal bleeding was detected along with infected burn wound.
