Abstract

Injury to intima of carotid artery is one of the important findings in cases of hanging, which has been reported with variable incidence by different workers. The present study comprising 23 cases of hanging observed during a period of 1 year was undertaken to evaluate the influence of various parameters responsible for carotid artery injury in cases of hanging. Type of hanging, type of noose and breadth of ligature material are the parameters which influence carotid artery injury in cases of hanging. They are discussed in detail in the present study.
