Electrocution deaths in and around Imphal

Abstract

With the modern lifestyle, electricity plays an important role in providing the physical facilities but fatalities are very low compared to its use. There were 29 deaths in an eight-year study (Jan. 95 to Dec. 2002) at the Forensic Medicine Dept., Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal. These cases were only 0.87% of the total medico-legal autopsies and comprised 27 males and 2 females. 24 cases died immediately and 5 survived for a few minutes.
