Abstract

Echinococcus has a world wide distribution with heaviest infestation in regions of cattle and sheep husbandry.

Liver is Ihe most frequently parasitized organ in human followed by lungs. The size and manifestations of hydatid disease is variable depending upon its location and duration.

We present here a case of hydatid cyst with innumerahle daughter cysts in the liver, which were incidentally detected at autopsy.

The case is presented here due to the interesting finding of the large size and numerous daughter cyst. The literature on the Echinococcus disease and the differential diagnosis is reviewed.
