Abstract

In absence of any technical guidelines, management of human remains following disaster is often being carried out in an uncoordinated and disorganized manner. Inappropriate management of human remains leads to psychological stress among survivors, increased risk to the handlers and loss of evidence for future identification and investigation. Systematic approach of management of human remains is crucial in the disaster response from both public health and forensic science view point. There is strong need for development of technical guidelines based on evidence for management of human remains following disaster.
