Forensic toxicology has undergone rapid modernization and exceptional sophistication over the last few decades. The new and rapid methods have substituted old conventional methods. In this scenario it is important to have standard guidline for setting up new forensic toxicology laboratory to maintain good standard and keep pace with changing requirements of analytical toxicology owing to the rapid advancement of technology and changing trends of crimes requiring toxicological analysis. Various models for establishment and functioning of toxicology laboratory might have been presented, however each model is based on the same basic framework, with variations depending upon several parameters. In this article we have made an attempt to frame up a model which can serve as an ideal model for establishment and functioning of toxicology laboratory in Indian scenario. The listing of consumables has been made by taking minimal requirement into consideration, which may vary from laboratory to laboratory depending upon the quantity of analysis and research activity performed.
