Abstract

The aim of the present study was to find out the correlation between head length and height of an individual and to derive regression formulae to estimate the height from the head length in Maharashtrian population of India. Subjects that included 100 male and 100 female Maharashtrians were of age ranging from 25 to 30 years. The anterio-posterior length of head was measured between nasion to inion with spreading calipers. The height was measured in standing, erect position with stadiometer. The correlation coefficient for head length and height for males and females was + 0.62 and + 0.58 respectively. The findings of the present study indicate a strong association between head length and height of an individual. Simple regression formulae were generated for both sexes for prediction of height from head length.
