Abstract

The determination of Sex from Sternum was studied in 116 cases at Govt. Medical College &New Civil Hospital, Surat. In the present study a new parameter of width has been tried for the exanimation of sex.

The present study is an attempt to study the sternum for the determination of sex. It includes a study of sternal indices for the sex differentiation. In the present study a new parameter of width has been tried for the exanimation of sex. The width index has been calculated by using the formula maximum width of the body/maximum width of the manubrium x 100 for both the sexes separately. The result achieved by the existing parameters and those achieved a using the width index are tabulated and graphically plotted for study.
