Abstract

Massage is an old established method of maintaining body. It helps in many ways and considered innocuous. Body massage exercises whole body, improves blood circulation, stimulates nerves junctions, tones up muscles, repairs wornout tissues, removes waste from body through sweat and helps in fat distribution. Regular massages protect the body from falling prey to diseases, retard premature aging and tone up the skin. It also has hypnotic effect on body and mind; it is relaxing and increase body circulation. A body massage to tired persons after hill station climbing and long journey is a routine at religious and tourist places. It is not safe for everyone and can be fatal in middleaged persons suffering from hypertension and coronary artery disease. One such case where massage proved fatal is discussed in this case report.
