Aim: Evaluate the computer assisted dentition overlay method for bite mark analysis.
Materials and Methods: Impressions of both, maxillary as well as mandibular arches of 50 consenting volunteers were taken and dentition casts were prepared. Computer assisted overlay comparison was carried out.
Results: The findings showed that the complete dentition method is the best among all three (maxillary, mandibular and complete dentition involving both maxillary and mandibular phase) phases. Statistical analysis showing high negative predictive value supports this method to be of exclusion type
Conclusion: Computer Assisted Dentition Overlay method is a good identification tool used in exclusion of an suspect rather than of an inclusive type.
