Abstract

Facebook has been one of the oldest social-networking sites and according to data by a statistics portal in 2015 Facebook had 1.59 billion monthly active users around the globe. It makes it intriguing to study such a platform, which is used by so many people around the world. The social-networking sites were set up with the intention of connecting and socialising with friends and communities. People use a medium as per their needs. A change has been observed in the way users are now operating Facebook. This study examines the following question: Is Facebook changing from being a network meant for socialising with friends to a network of users, using it for work-related activities? The findings indicate a change where users other than socialising are now also using Facebook for their work activities.
