The aim of this study was gender-wise and whole comparison of student engagement and learning effectiveness during Pre-COVID and COVID. The challenges faced and also suggestions specified by the students were also recorded. Questionnaires were prepared with the help of experts. Those questionnaires have been modified into two google forms to collect data from 70 students of UAS, Raichur, the 35 were participated in February 2020 (Pre-COVID) and 35 during October 2020 (COVID). The respective google forms were sent to students through e-mail and whatsapp. Data was compiled and analyzed by using spreadsheets and Mann-Whitney U test and paired t-test respectively. The usage of communication tools had been increased compared to before pandemic. Training methods, usefulness of training sessions and training Effectiveness were significant during Pre-COVID. From the study it can be deduced that the students were engaged effectively in training programme during pre-COVID compared to COVID. Academically and socially, the reasons were driving the desire to return to face-to-face classes, but this enthusiasm was dampened by COVID-19-related health concerns.
