Abstract

What the media is doing with people is not so important as what people do with the media. Without realizing this concept, messages are bombarded on an audience who show least regard for them. To achieve a successful communication, new media is offering us unlimited opportunities to tap at least the techno savvy youth. While people are turning towards nature for a peaceful, healthy and a sustainable living, it is time for us to offer the message about nature and environment. Even the elderly persons are found addicted to this new wave of green concepts. They think of community living, organic farming, alternative medical therapies and flair to care nature. Anywhere they go, it is towards a sense of gratification on nature. The continuous streaming of messages on climate change, environmental pollution and global warming in the media has set the alarm bells towards conservation. This has led to an increase in viewership of nature-related channels like The Discovery, Animal Planet and National Geographic. To guide the citizens to lead an eco-friendly life, the author has created a website www.crjayaprakash.com and has been recording its importance for two years. The reach and the impact of the site are discussed in this paper as an experimental study.
