Abstract

This study has been done on the availability and use of information sources by the rural people of Ballia District of Uttar Pradesh. The paper focuses on the media sources available for the rural people and in what way these sources are being utilised by them. Findings reveal that maximum number of respondents had television (TV) sets, followed by radio. TV was found to be the maximum utilised mass media, followed by newspaper. Majority of the respondents used TV, radio and magazines for entertainment, whereas newspaper was used for news or information purpose. The study has further revealed that TV was the most utilised as well as most credible mass media source of information for the rural families.
