University Teachers'Training Need in Classroom Teaching Behavior: A Study at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology

Abstract

This paper addresses the issue of teacher training need in coming era. Effective teaching and learning is the product of various factors. These factors are directly related to the quality of education in general and to successful classroom instructions in particular, these factors include, teacher background, his/her competencies, pre-service and in-service training, teacher students interaction efficient use of instructional time and materials, and assessment of students achievement, it is imperative, that for better planning of effective and efficient education in our institutions the above factors should be well conceived, properly organized and diligently implemented. On the basis of major findings and dominant trends, it can be concluded that teachers who were middle aged, male, in the rank of Professor, possessed Ph.D. as the highest qualification, middle level of work experience, untrained, moderate in response to job satisfaction, medium motivational profile, medium level of achievement motivation and medium level in professional use of ICT were found in dominating position. It was found that teachers had moderate to high level of training need. The most important area of training was found to be lesson plan preparation, classroom management, and general teaching methodology. It was found that there is a need for planned, systematic organized and continuous efforts.
