Abstract

The research performance of Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) was reviewed based on the publication data obtained from Thomson Reuters Web of Science Database for the period 2005–2014. The Peer-reviewed Journal research articles were considered and publications were identified by the ‘IARI’ in their address field. A total of 3,205 publications were retrieved of which 2,914 publications were peer-reviewed journal research articles and were considered for the analysis. The major findings of the study indicated that the published literature is increasing over the years. The literature was found doubling for every 8 to 9 years. The number of articles cited/referred for writing an article and the average number of pages per article also had increased. The articles published in 2005 received highest number of citation with average citation counts of 21.48 per article. ‘Singh, AK’, was the major contributing author and 20 authors have contributed for more than 50% of the articles during that period. The Indian Journal of Agricultural Science was most preferred journal for publication by the IARI community. The major amount of the literature was published on ‘plant breeding’, ‘soil’, ‘fertilisers’, ‘wheat’, ‘fruits’ and ‘ground water’.
