Cyber Dissimination Approach of Kvk Pathanamthitta

E-Agriculture is an emerging field focusing on the enhancement of agricultural and rural development through improved information and communication processes. E-Agriculture involves the conceptualization, plan, development, evaluation and application of innovative ways to exploit information and communication technologies (ICT) in upbringing the rural life, with a prime focus on Agriculture. KVK, Pathanamthitta makes best use of information Communication technology for effective dissemination of technologies to farming communities and extension functionaries at a faster pace. KVK, Pathanamthitta is one among 190 KVKs in the country with information hub with V-sat connectivity established by ICAR. The management information system of KVK has a data base management system, which besides supporting its own experts also provides the farmers with free access to the information related to agriculture and allied field. KVK has it website (www.kvkcard.org) which is regularly updated. The website contains information about district, KVK profile, regular information of KVK activities and e-marketing facility. KVK in its effort in promotingjack as a wonder fruit have initiated an exclusive technology portal for jackfruit in the form of blog (www.panasamwonders.blogspot.com), where in people have interactions. KVK also take effort in linking the people around the world to know and get feedback on our activities for which KVK is also active in social networking site-'facebook ’(www. card.pathanamthittakeralaindia.com). Other ICT initiatives of CARD-KVK includes Krishi Doodh (a Short Message Service), E-Publication, which includes E-newsletter, technology capsules in the form of CD's and DVD's, KrishiJalakam (a community Radio Programme). This paper highlights the Cyber strategies followed by KVK, Pathanamthitta for effective and faster dissemination of technologies.
