Educational Institutes offering various graduate, post graduate, degree, diploma and certificate courses have established themselves in large numbers in the last two decades. These Higher Education Institutions have been set up with the primary objective of imparting quality education. One of the most important constituent of quality education is teachingpractice. The quality of teaching learning practice in higher education institutes plays an important role in shaping the youth of the nation. Therefore excellence in teaching in the higher education sector is a matter of great concern for the Government and educationists. Raising consciousness about the concepts of quality in education also leads us to think if excellence can be achieved by increasing the levels ofproductivity of the academicians and satisfaction of the learners or should it be searched in the context of "spirituality". This paper is focused towards understanding the role played by spiritual intelligence on the teaching excellence of the academicians working in selffinanced Higher Education Institutes of Delhi/NCR.The study tries to answer questions about the most influential factors of teaching excellence in the wake of spirituality. In order to answer the study questions, a questionnaire was developed by the researchers as a major toolfor collecting the data needed, so as to evaluate the spiritual intelligence of teachers and its role on teaching excellence. Data is analyzed using descriptive statistics. Regression analysis is used to determine the role of teachers’ spiritual intelligence on their teaching excellence. The findings indicated that the spiritual intelligence of the teachers' had significant impact on their teaching excellence. Thus the research suggested that spiritual intelligence had positive results on teaching excellence. However, in the lights of thefindings, the study recommends more elaborate study with a larger sample size and across other locations.
