Women entrepreneurs are defined as women who launch, plan, and oversee a business venture. “Women who innovate, imitate, or adopt a business activity are called women entrepreneurs,” according to Schumpeter. As per the “Government of India” a woman entrepreneur is someone that possesses at least 51% financial ownership and control of an enterprise, with at least 51% of the employment opportunities generated within the enterprise being allocated to women.
One of the categories with the fastest growth is women-owned businesses (WOEs). The breadth of women’s entrepreneurship has significantly shifted, thanks in large part to the framework of government regulations regarding MSMEs and increased awareness among women. The number of women-owned businesses has increased dramatically across all industries. Despite the numerous obstacles they must overcome, women remain unfazed. The government’s five-year plans and policies regarding MSMEs play a crucial role. Additionally, the initiatives of various financial and non-financial institutions are augmenting the roles of women.
The study utilized secondary data from various government reports and evaluations conducted by different researchers to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by Indian women entrepreneurs. The main objective of the article is to understand the circumstances surrounding female entrepreneurs in India. The study aims to analyze the demands of female entrepreneurs, government initiatives, and potential future steps in light of the current situation. This paper seeks to assess the challenges and opportunities encountered by women entrepreneurs in order to gain a better understanding of their current condition.
