Abstract

The concept of quality has existed for many years, though it’s meaning has changed and evolved over time. Total quality management (TQM) is different from the old concept of quality because its focus is on serving customers, identifying the causes of quality problems, and building quality into the production process. Total Quality Management (TQM) is an approach that organizations use to improve their internal processes and increase customer satisfaction. When it is properly implemented, this style of management can lead to decreased costs related to corrective or preventative maintenance, better overall performance, and an increased number of happy and loyal customers. A Total quality management survey of the Sugar Industry taken in previous years indicated that Deming and ISO 9000 were the best known quality philosophies. Most Quality programs installed concentrated on manufacturing followed by purchasing and engineering. So, this research paper studies that either the employees of purchasing and engineering departments of Sugar Industry are aware about TQM or not.
