Abstract

Women workforce constitutes an integral part of total workforce in India. On 31st march 2004, women constituted 19 per cent of the total workforce. Though they have shown their presence in as diverse sector as space technology, defense sector etc but majority of the women is confined to the traditional sectors like education, banking & health. The present study aimed to undertake a study in these traditional sectors to find out the basic purpose of their working. In addition they were asked regarding various personal & organizational issues. 135 respondents from various sectors were contacted using Purposive sampling The data were subjected to Cross tabulation and percentage. The results indicated that most of the respondents work for their interest or for their independence and as regard employment issues, they were mostly unaware of their rights and various guidelines regarding sexual harassment.
