Abstract

In todays competitive world, the organizations have to be growth-oriented. This is possible when productivity is ensured with respect to quantity of product to be produced with zero error quality. This could only happen when the people working in organization work in a proper manner and according to the defined standards but sometimes performance degrades because of the differences in individual behaviors, this difference occurs because people are from different social and cultural backgrounds and therefore their thinking and way of working differs. Within an organization, the behavior of one member can have an impact, either directly or indirectly, on the behavior of others and therefore the higher authority must have the ability to understand the differences in individual behaviors and use them appropriately to improve the performance. This could be done through the study of OB because it is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within an organization. OB involves integration of studies undertaken relating to behavioral sciences like psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, social psychology and political science. This paper has explained that the most important aspect of Culture is the conventional behavior of an organization that encompasses beliefs, customs, knowledge, and practices. It influences the human behavior. This paper has also explained that the people depend on culture as it gives them stability, security, understanding, and the ability to respond to a given situation. No two individuals are likely to behave in the same manner in a particular work situation.
